Early Excuse Request
Students seeking to be excused early from school must submit an early excuse request in person, on the day they are leaving school; signed by the parent or guardian to the attendance office staff, in Room 203 before they leave the building.
Students will receive a pass acknowledging that they are excused from classes for the rest of the day.
The school will accept faxes from the parent/guardian if needed.
An early excuse pass is still required even if a student leaves during his/her lunch period.
All students including students over 18 years of age still need permission from their parent/guardian to leave school early.
A parent or guardian must be available by phone to confirm the request.
Please feel free to call the attendance office for further information: (212) 312-4800 ext.2031
Climate Strike - September 20, 2019
On Friday, September 20, 2019, a Climate Strike is taking place in New York City that we have been advised students may take part in. The DoE has stated that students will be excused for absences for participation if they have parental permission.
In order for the absence to be excused, students must submit the signed consent form upon exiting the building to leave for the Climate Strike on Friday, September 20th. Students will be permitted to exit the bridge at 11:47am by submitting their signed parent consent form and scanning their ID upon exiting the building.
If the consent form is not used, a signed note from a parent or legal guardian must include the student’s full name and OSIS number, the parent or guardian’s full name, and their contact information.
Please note that absence is a matter of legal record. The absence will remain on record properly coded. School staff are not permitted to attend as per DoE policy, therefore, students will not be supervised at this event.
